Quaint...Inviting...Everything you want from a bistro...
|
During the day, the restaurant has a “hidden gem” appeal as one could easily miss the restaurant all together if you were to drive passed it too quickly. Its quaint exterior is in contrast to it’s rustic yet homey feel to the interior of the restaurant. Don’t let that fool you though, this restaurant is nothing but class and the patrons that frequent the restaurant become a part of the décor itself. If you have no idea what I mean by this, let me explain to you that the Bellini’s Restaurant is “where the hungry come to feed” (excuse the pun), this is a popular scene for the rich, trendy and beautiful…sounds clichéd, it is clichéd but it doesn’t stop those from frequenting the stunning little abode. It seems as though there are two kinds of people who attend Bellini’s, those that belong there and those that come to “sight see” , hoping to catch a sneak peak at one of there favourite South African celebs – for instance, my Saturday experience, I was graced with the presence of Claudia Henkel, a former Ms.South Africa – are you picking up what I’m putting down? Good.

Simple decor with an attention to quality food...

Moving on…the food is unmistakably the “other reason” why people attend Bellini’s…from a gorgeous selection of starters to signature salads that seemed to be the logical “weight watchers” choice for a lunchtime experience. I decided on the fillet steak with rocket salad…sounding slightly feminine? Well, let me tell you that this is no ordinary salad…the portion is more than substantial even for a young man such as myself. The steak can be cooked to your preference and the helping of Parmesan shavings are literally abound! What is really unique about Bellini’s salads is that they arrive in front of you already dressed. Now, I know what you thinking…how dare they dress my salad before me…but trust me, their natural Bellini’s dressing is delicious and you can literally eat the salad “voets-toets” (as it is…)…!

Simple and unoffensive...

Their selection of wines is not the greatest, but seem to be paired up for their choice of mains and if you’re unsure of what wine will work best with the meals you’ve ordered, each waiter appears to be well versed in the mixology of wine and dine.
The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and with a few great friends, the Bellini’s experience can be formed in one that shall remain a weekly MUST DO or a monthly supper or lunch club (Bellini’s Club)…!
